SLU'S DANCEWORKS SCHEDULES AUDITIONS FOR FANFARE MODERN DANCE
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's residence dance company, danceworks,
will hold auditions August 29-30 for the company's new original modern dance, The Four Mountains.
The Four Mountains, which tells in movement the story of a kind-hearted Navajo earth
goddess, will be presented October 27 during Fanfare, Southeastern's annual October arts festival.
The full-length modern dance was choreographed by danceworks members George V.
Traylor, Ponchatoula; Lillian Gray, Slidell, and Jeanne Labourdette and Nicole Fassbender, New
Orleans. It will be directed by danceworks artistic director and Southeastern dance professor Martie
Fellom.
Auditions, open to dancers ages 10 and up, are scheduled from 4-7 p.m., Friday, August 29,
and 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, August 30, in the SLU Kinesiology and Health Studies Building dance
studio.
Dancers should wear dance apparel or loose-fitting clothing and will audition barefoot. Those
chosen should be prepared to commit to a two-hour, twice-a-week rehearsal schedule.
For additional information, call Fellom at 504-549-2133.
