SLU MUSIC DEPARTMENT, HAMMOND CULTURAL FOUNDATION PLAN
HOLIDAY "FEAST OF CAROLS"
     HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Music Department and the
Hammond Cultural Foundation are planning a festive holiday evening of dinner and
entertainment in the style of "Merrie Olde England."
     The "Feast of Carols" is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13 at the Cate Building
(formerly Locascio's Hardware) on the corner of S. Oak St. and W. Thomas St. in downtown
Hammond. Tickets, which go on sale Oct. 1 at the Hammond Cultural Foundation Building, 217
E. Thomas, are $40 each. Tickets are available by telephone and mail. HCF hours are 10 a.m.-4
p.m., weekdays.
     A traditional holiday menu will be presented and the evening will include a festive toast
from the wassail bowl, the procession of the boar's head, and a flaming plum pudding. The
evening's activities will be highlighted by traditionally costumed strolling singers, musicians,
jugglers, jesters, brass fanfares, processions, and toasts. The menu features hollyberry salad,
cochon du lait, Cornish hens, Brabant potatoes, court carrots and Yorkshire pudding. A cash bar
will open at 6:30 p.m. 
     Entertainers will include members of  Southeastern's Concert Choir, Brass Chamber
Ensemble, and Collegium Musicum, which performs on antique instruments.
