REGISTRATION BEGINS DEC. 5 FOR ANNUL FAMILY LIFE CONFERENCE
HAMMOND -- Registration begins December 5 for the annual Family Life Conference,
sponsored by Southeastern Louisiana University, the Tangipahoa Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Council (TADAC), and Louisiana Children's Trust Fund.
The theme for the 2002 conference, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 at the
Southeastern University Center, is "Building a Learning Community."
The fee for the conference will be $15 until March 1, 2002 and $25 after that date. Fees
are non-refundable, but are transferable. Participants can register online at www.tadac.org/flc.
Early registration is recommended since seating is limited.
The Family Life Conference will offer a number of breakout sessions designed to
empower families, professionals and students through education, information exchange, and
resources.
Breakout sessions include "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens," "The Taming of the
Temper," "Talking so Kids will Listen," "Building Healthy Families," "Shape up our Kids,"
"Parents Rights and Responsibilities in Special Education," "Save Money-Pay Bills on Time,"
"Literacy with Little Ones: Where to Begin," "Letting Go of Stress: Tips for Daily Living,"
"Energize Yourself Inside and Out," "Service Learning 101," "Inhalant Abuse," "True Colors for
Families," "Folic Acid for Healthy Babies," "Effective Black Parenting," "They're Driving Me
Crazy--Parenting Difficult Teens," and "Family Relationships and Fostering Self-esteem in
Children."
