SLU HOSTS ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL "ENGLISH DAY"
HAMMOND -- More than 130 students teachers from 20 area high schools attended
Southeastern Louisiana University's annual English Day on April 21. Students attended English
classes and competed in a variety of writing competitions.
In the expository writing competition, Katy Lockell of Zachary High won first place, Ben
Davis of Ponchatoula High, second, and Elizabeth Gristina of Hammond High, third.
Tiffany M. Lewis of Hammond High was first place in creative writing with Stephanie
Cogdill of Covington High, second, and Gabrielle Saucier of Pearl River High, third.
First place in the professional writing went to Monica Dori Hodges of Holden High,
second to April Woods and Jason Silessi of St. Thomas Aquinas High and third to Norvie
Lavigne of Ponchatoula High.
Attending the event were students and teachers from
Tangipahoa Parish -- Ponchatoula High School, Hammond High School, Loranger High
School, Oak Forest Academy, St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Amite High School.
St. Tammany Parish -- Fontainebleau High School, Covington High School, Pearl River
High School, and Mandeville High School.
Livingston Parish -- Albany High School, Denham Springs High School, Springfield
High School, Doyle High School, Walker High School and Holden High School.
East Baton Rouge -- Central High School and Zachary High School.
East St. John -- East St. John High School.
