SLU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONOR TOP STUDENTS       
     HAMMOND -- Danae Ragas of Buras has been named Outstanding Elementary Student
Teacher and Stacie Dauterive of Arabi has received the Outstanding Secondary Student Teacher
Award at the Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Education's annual honors
convocation.
     Ragas and Dauterive, along with Dean Mannina of Gramercy, "Outstanding Graduate in
a Professional Program," and Gerra Wellman Perkins of Leesville, "Outstanding Junior,"
received the College's top awards in an April 20 ceremony that also announced departmental
honors and scholarships.
     Dauterive also was named Outstanding Senior in Biology Education, while Mannina was
named Outstanding Senior in Kinesiology.
     Nominees for the Outstanding Student Teacher Award were, Elementary:  J'eannell
Bourdreaux and Julie Gele, both of Baton Rouge, and, Secondary: Shannon Hall, Madisonville;
Sharon Lorenz, Covington, and Lisa Stilley, Albany. Jessica Henson of Greenwell Springs was
nominated for the Outstanding Graduate in a Professional Program honor.
     The College of Education also announced new members of the honor societies Phi Kappa
Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, the Thirteen Club and Beta Lambda. Dean Stephen Ragan recognized
special guests, College of Education 50-year alumni Violet Carmena, Mary Lou Hutchinson and
Lynne Spears, all of Baton Rouge, and Dewey Carrier of Denham Springs and retired faculty
member Jack Hite of Hammond. 
     Students receiving departmental honors included:
