"DISCOVER SOUTHEASTERN" IN ST. TAMMANY, NEW ORLEANS
HAMMOND -- New Orleans area and north shore high school students and their parents
are invited to "discover" Southeastern Louisiana University at the university's first annual college
night.
"Discover Southeastern" is scheduled for 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Slidell
Municipal Auditorium and Wednesday, April 16, at the Best Western Landmark Hotel in
Metairie.
"Discover Southeastern" will give students a chance to see what Southeastern has to offer
them, academically and socially, said Enrollment Counselor Tonya Hery, who is coordinating the
event.
Southeastern faculty and staff will be on hand to answer students' and parents' questions
about academic programs, financial aid, admissions, athletics, student organizations and student
housing. "Discover Southeastern" guests also can visit with representatives from Southeastern
athletics, the Alumni Association, KSLU public radio and a variety of student organizations.
"Discover Southeastern" will also feature music, refreshments and door prizes.
"Southeastern is Louisiana's best kept secret," said Hery. "We're trying to let the New
Orleans area in on that secret. Southeastern is far away enough so that students can 'go away' to
college and close enough so that it doesn't cost them much to go home for visits."
"Discover Southeastern" is free and open to the public. For more information call
1-800-222-SELU.
