PROFESSORS PRESENT TRUMPET RECITAL APRIL 3
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University music professor Bryan DePoy and
fellow trumpet player Luis Engelke of Towson University in Towson, Md., will be featured in a
recital April 3 in Pottle Music Building Auditorium. The free recital is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The professors also will present a master class at 2 p.m., April 2.
The April 3 recital will include two new Brazilian works for trumpet and piano, a
20th-Century work for trumpet and compact disc, and a cornet solo by the famous J.B. Arban.
The program also will feature piano accompaniment by Southeastern professor Frankie Kelly
and works for brass quintet and trumpet ensemble by Southeastern music students and faculty.
DePoy received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University School of Music, master's
degree from the University of New Mexico, and doctoral degree from Florida State University.
An active soloist and clinician, he has published articles in the "International Trumpet Guild
Journal," "National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Journal," and is
currently the music reviews editor for the "International Trumpet Guild Journal."
DePoy has performed with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony
Orchestra, Spoleto Festival Orchestra, New Southwest Orchestra, Tupelo Symphony Orchestra,
Memphis Symphony, Mississippi Symphony, and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. As a
clinician, he has been a guest of universities in America and abroad. Most recently he was
professor of trumpet at Delta State University. He is an Edwards Performing Artist.
Engelke, an active performer, educator, scholar, composer/arranger, and conductor,
currently serves as music reviews co-editor for the "International Trumpet Guild Journal." He is
a former member of Orquestra Sinf“nica Brasileira in Rio de Janeiro and has performed with the

Phoenix Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, Mesa Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Springfield
Symphony, Ohio Valley Symphony, Orquestra Pro-M£sica (Rio de Janeiro), Music at Penn's
Woods Festival Orchestra, Rome Festival Orchestra (Italy), and Pro-Music Chamber Orchestra
of Columbus. He has taught at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and the Conservat¢rio
Brasileiro de M£sica.
Engelke's articles can be found in the "Euro-ITG Newsletter," "Jazz Educators Journal,"
and "Triad." He has a bachelor's degree from Florida State University, master's degrees from
FSU and the Ohio State University, and a doctoral degree from Arizona State University.
