SLU ANNOUNCES 2002 HOMECOMING BEAU COURT
HAMMOND -- Fourteen Southeastern
Louisiana University students have been chosen as members of the 2002 Homecoming
beau court. The seven men, along with the seven women on the queen’s court,
will reign over Homecoming festivities November 4-9.
Chosen as members of the beau
court are seniors Drerrick D. Barnes of Greensburg, Chip Bunch of Clinton,
Jason Mapp of Gonzales, Jason Lawrence Milton of Kenner, junior Christopher
W. Kidwell of Mandeville and sophomores Bryan E. Bradshaw of Marrero and
Jason Latiolais of Independence.
The 2002 Homecoming beau and
queen, the top vote-getters in the recent campus election, will be announced
at halftime of the Homecoming basketball game when the Lions take on the
Spirit Express at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9 at the University Center.
The court will also participate
in Homecoming festivities such as Gumbo Ya Ya, Tons of Fun Food Drive,
and the bonfire. On Homecoming Day, the court will ride in the 11 a.m.
parade through downtown Hammond and will attend the free pre-game jambalaya
picnic at the University Center.
Barnes, an English and communications
major and youth minister, is the son of Charles and Glind Barnes. He is
beau and president of the Southeastern Gospel Choir, and is a member of
the Broadcasting Society and debate team. He also serves on the Student
Government Association as a senator.
Bradshaw, a psychology major,
is beau of the sophomore class. The son of Edward R. Bradshaw, he is a
recipient of the Excel Scholarship. He is a member of the Student Government
Association, in which he was in the first class of the organization’s Roomie
Aides, a freshman leadership program. Bradshaw is also a member of Circle
K, Excel, and Gamma Beta Phi national honor and service society.
Bunch, a social work major, is
the son of Dorman and Cely Bunch and beau of the rugby team. He is a corporal
in the United States Marine Corps and owner of Feliciana Amusements, LLC.
Kidwell is a psychology major
and is the son of Donald and Cathy Kidwell. He is beau of Alpha Sigma Tau
sorority. He is a new member educator for Theta Chi Fraternity and a Roomie
Aide coordinator for the Student Government Association. He is also a member
of Gamma Beta Phi national honor and service society and Psi Chi National
Honor Society. He was a 2002 orientation leader and participated in America
Reads Week as Dr. Seuss’s “Cat in the Hat,” entertaining and educating
area children.
Latiolais, the son of Donny and
Pat Latiolais, is an electrical engineering major and is beau of the Student
Government Association. He is a member of SGA, Gamma Beta Phi national
honor and service society, and Immanuel Baptist Church. Latiolais currently
works for the Global Wildlife Center in Folsom.
Mapp, the son of Martin and Tara
Mapp, is a kinesiology major and beau of the Lionettes. He has been a Rugby
Club member and captain for five years and was a member of last year’s
homecoming court.
Milton, beau of the senior class,
is majoring in nursing. He is the son of Audrey Milton. He is a senator
for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and a member of Theta Chi
Fraternity and the Nehemiah Lodge #72 Masonic Order.
