ROCK 'N ROAR COOKING CONTEST WINNERS
HAMMOND -- John Zewe of Hammond was the grand prize winner in the annual
Southeastern Louisiana University Rock 'n Roar cooking contest.
The contest was co-sponsored by the Southeastern Alumni Association and the
Hammond Daily Star.
Zewe also took first place in the "Anything Goes" category for his recipe for Mock Turtle
Sauce Piquante. Second place went to Dot Barker for her Corn Casserole, while Robin
Schexnaydre won third for her Easy Crawfish Ro-Tel Casserole and Stephen A. Doiron won
honorable mention for "Empadinhas."
In the category for Southeastern students, Emily Crawford, a sophomore family and
consumer science major from Hammond, took the grand prize for a shrimp, crab and artichoke
dip recipe.
The contest's new category for children was won by Bradley Serbert his Oreo Crunch
Bars. Alex LeJeune's Golden Spiced Bananas took second place, and Cory Dickinson was the
third place winner with his recipe for "Scotch-A-Roos."
