GOVERNOR FOSTER TO BE GUEST AT SLU CONVOCATION PICNIC
     HAMMOND -- Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster will be Southeastern Louisiana
University's special guest, Friday, Aug. 22, when President Sally Clausen officially kicks off the
university's 1997-98 academic year.
     The Governor will join area legislators, Southeastern faculty and staff and Hammond
Chamber of Commerce members at the university's annual welcome back picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 1
p.m. at the SLU University Center on University Ave.
     The picnic, hosted by the Alumni Association and the Chamber, will follow the traditional
faculty-staff convocation, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in the Kiva, the Cate Teacher Education Center's
second floor auditorium.
     Tickets for the general public are $10 and can be purchased through August 20 at the Alumni
Center, 504-549-2150, 1-800-SLU-ALUM.
