SLU CONVOCATION AND PICNIC SET FOR FRIDAY
     HAMMOND   Southeastern Louisiana University President Sally Clausen will officially
welcome faculty and staff back to campus for a new academic year at the university's Fall
Convocation, scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, in the Cate Teacher Education Center Kiva. 
     The Convocation program will include the president's outline of last year's successes and
the upcoming year's plans and recognition of President's Awards for Excellence winners,
emeritus faculty, and 25- and 30-year service award recipients.
     Following Convocation,  the Southeastern Alumni Association and the Hammond
Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a picnic from noon-1 p.m. at the University Center.
     The picnic will preview the special logo and year-long schedule that Southeastern has
developed for its 75th anniversary celebration in 2000. The picnic is free for Southeastern
employees showing their university I.D., and $5 for community members.
     Also, the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles will be on hand to sell Southeastern
license plates. A portion of the cost of the license plates goes toward student scholarships.
