SLU HOMECOMING COLORING CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED
HAMMOND--The winners of the annual Daily Star-Southeastern Louisiana University
Homecoming coloring contest were announced at Hammond Square Mall November 16. The 12
young artists, who colored a design featuring Southeastern's mascot "Roomie" and the
Homecoming 1998 theme "Flying High With Southeastern Pride," were chosen from more than
400 entries.
Judges for the contest were Hammond Mayor Louis Tallo, Star 107 news director Mary
Pirosko, Southeastern Lab School art teacher Denise Holly and Karen Fontenot, of
Southeastern's Regina Coeli Child Development Center. The winners received ribbons and toys
donated by Walmart and will ride in the November 21 Homecoming parade.
The parade, one of the highlights of Homecoming Day, will role from First Guaranty
Bank through downtown Hammond to the Southeastern University Center at 11 a.m.
Winners were:
7-9 year olds -- Sarah Starns, first; Kimberly Lowry, second; Adam Osterly, third, and
Jessica Hano, honorable mention.
5-6 year olds -- Jessie Lamartinere, first; Faith Gibson, second; Arielle Wood, third; Mark
Everett Traylor, honorable mention.
3-4 year olds -- Tony Miller, first; Nicole Butler, second; Earest Bailey Jr., third, and
Taylor Williams, honorable mention.
The contest was coordinated at Southeastern by Mary Genco, associate director of
financial aid; Tara Monteleone, financial aid counselor; and Tanya Hery, enrollment services
counselor.
