SLU COLLAGE CONCERT HONORS VISITING HIGH
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University bands will present the annual
Southeastern Music Department Collage Concert on Friday, December 1 in Pottle Music
Building Auditorium. The free concert begins at 7 p.m.
The Collage Concert will feature the Southeastern Wind Symphony, select student
ensembles, and members of the music faculty in "a 50-minute, non-stop concert of outstanding
and diverse musical offerings," said Director of Bands Glen J. Hemberger.
Begun by Hemberger last year, the Collage Concert honors visiting members of the High
School Honors Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble, which will be in residency at Southeastern
December 1-2.
Hemberger said the Southeastern Honor Band festival is among the most popular in the
south. Honor bands members are chosen by nomination and include 120 of the state's best high
school musicians. The 2000 honor bands will be conducted by Eugene Corporon of the
University of North Texas, and Marcellus Brown from Boise State University.
"This year, more than 55 percent of the participants in the Southeastern festival were also
members of the All-State Symphonic Band, Concert Band or Orchestra," Hemberger said.
The Collage Concert will feature the Southeastern Wind Symphony conducted by
Hemberger, the student brass quintet, student clarinet quartet, trumpet professor Bryan DePoy,
trombone professor David Johansen, the faculty brass trio, soprano Emily Truckenbrod, and
assistant director of bands John Perrine.
