SLU'S COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL REGISTRATION JAN. 26
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Community Music School is
offering private instruction and classes in voice and instrumental music beginning February 2.
Registration begins Monday January 26 and continues throughout the semester.
CMS students are taught by undergraduate and graduate students in the SLU Department
of Music, music faculty and degreed musicians from the Hammond area.
The CMS offers private instruction in piano, violin, jazz and classical guitar, flute,
saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, low brass, french horn and percussion. CMS also has classes and
offers students an opportunity to participate in ensembles such as the CMS choir, regional
community band for adults and the String Academy Orchestra. Classes offered include music
and Movement for Young Children, a Saturday courses for pre-school and kindergarten aged
students, Music Theory for the Developing Musician with separate classes for elementary,
middle school and high school students, and Piano Laboratory for the Adult student.
