CONCERT FEATURES THREE SLU, COMMUNITY CHOIRS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Concert Choir and University
Chorus will join voices with the Northshore Choral Society for a May 3 performance of Gabriel
Faur‚'s "Requiem, Op. 48."
Conducted by Southeastern's Graeme Cowen, the free performance is scheduled for 7:30
p.m. at Hammond's First Baptist Church, 401 W. Morris.
The 70-voice combined choir will be accompanied by orchestra and organist Dan Salbot.
Soloists for the "Requiem," which Cowen called "a gorgeous piece of standard choral
literature," are soprano Rita Dottor, a senior voice major from Saute St. Marie, Canada, and Kyle
Jones, a sophomore accounting major from Bogalusa. Graduate student Miroslav Hristov of Stara
Zagora, Bulgaria, will be featured as violin soloist.
