SOUTHEASTERN ADDS SILENT AUCTION TO CHEFS EVENING
HAMMOND -- Chefs Evening, Southeastern Louisiana University's annual food festival
and fund raiser, is adding a new feature to its already popular "menu" of tasty treats and
congenial socializing.
Chefs Evening 2002 will also include a silent auction to benefit Southeastern athletics,
said Associate Athletic Director Duane Shafer.
Chefs Evening is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at Southeastern's
Twelve Oaks.
"We have a number of great prizes -- from trips to furniture to rounds of golf," Shafer
said. "All proceeds from the auction will benefit either the general fund of the Southeastern
Athletics Association or an individual team fund."
Examples of auction items include one week lodgings in condominiums in Red River,
N.M. and Destin, Fla.; a Boston Red Sox jersey autographed by Manny Ramirez; an official TPX
infielders glove; an 18-hole golf lesson with Southeastern golf coach Tim Baldwin; rounds of
golf for four player at the University Club in Baton Rouge and Money Hill Country Club in St.
Tammany Parish; a solid wood barrister's bookcase; dinner for two at Gino's Restaurant in Baton
Rouge; a set of cypress lawn furniture; and coupons for Southeastern athletic summer camps.
Tickets for Chefs Evening, which benefits Southeastern academic programs, are $35. The
gala is also sponsoring a variety of giving levels for ticket orders, which can include reserved
tables and the Patron Party, which will be held this year from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the home of
Bonnie and Doug DuBois in Hammond. Jacmel Inn will provide refreshments for the party.
