SLU CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS JUNE 2
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University students or students who plan to
enroll full time in the university this summer or fall are invited to try out for the university's
cheerleading squad, the university's official spirit team.
     Cheerleaders perform at men's and women's basketball games, volleyball games, pep
rallies, orientations, parades and community events. Cheerleaders must maintain at 2.0 gpa. 
     Tryouts are scheduled from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, June 2 at the Southeastern Lab School
gym. 
     To prepare for try-outs, students can attend two clinics, conducted by Universal
Cheerleaders Association staff members. Stunting -- toss stunt, liberty and straight up extension
-- and gymnastics are required. Others skills necessary include cheer/chant/fight song; tumbling
pass with two elements; back handspring, back tuck. Full up and/or double full dismount is
worth
extra points. 
     Clinics are scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 19 and Saturday, May 26.
