SLU CONCERT CHOIR TO PERFORM AT ST. JOSEPH'S ABBEY
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Concert Choir will perform Bach's
"Mass in B Minor" at St. Joseph's Abbey in Covington on May 2. The free concert is scheduled
for 8 p.m.
Brad Richmond, Southeastern's director of choral activities, will conduct the choir. The
concert is dedicated to the late Ronald Brothers, long-time staff accompanist and organ instructor
at Southeastern and music director at Baton Rouge's St. Thomas More Church and Broadmoor
Baptist Church.
The choir will be accompanied by full orchestra, with St. Joseph's organist the Rev. Sean
Duggan on harpsichord. Soloists include three university professors and two Southeastern
alumni. They are baritone Stephen Rushing, a member of Southeastern's music department
faculty; soprano Jessica Tuttle Molin, a Southeastern alumnus and adjunct voice instructor;
mezzo-soprano Leslie Jones, also a Southeastern graduate; tenor William McCrary of the
University of New Orleans faculty, and bass Leon Turner of Southern University's music
department.
The Concert Choir will travel to England May 18-26 for performances in Canterbury,
