SLU SPONSORS CAREER 2000 EMPLOYMENT FESTIVAL
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's annual "Career 2000 Employment
Festival" will be held Sept. 27 in the War Memorial Student Union Ballroom.
     Sponsored by the university's Career Development Services, the event is open to SLU
students and alumni. It is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m.
     In conjunction with the festival, the university's Office of Leadership Planning will host
the "First Ever Senior Orientation." Planned especially for graduating seniors, the orientation will
include seminars on interviewing skills and resume writing; graduation information; cap and
gown fittings; invitation; and ring representatives.
     Approximately 40 federal, state and private employers will visit campus to provide
seniors and graduates with career information and to consider them as potential employees.
Participants include Walgreens, Equitable, Northwest Financial, Sanderson Farms, the U.S.
Department of Labor/OSHA, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Social
Services/Office of Family Support, Automatic Data Processing, Louisiana Machinery, the U.S.
Probation Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department, Neese Industries and the Federal
Correctional Institution.
     Also, Hertz Equipment Rental, Blue Cross, Pellerin Milnor, the Louisiana Department of
Civil Service, the Producers Group, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the Louisiana Cooperative Extension
Service, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Prudential, Neill Corporation, the
Louisiana Department of Corrections--Probation and Parole, Together Dating, the Lafayette City
Police, Woodmen of the World Life Insurance, Lady Footlocker and Piccadilly Cafeterias.
     Interviews will not be held, but seniors and graduates should have resumes available.
Several employers have scheduled campus interview dates during the fall semester.
