SLU "CAP" CENTER TO OPEN SEPT. 26
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University College of Basic Studies' new
Career and Academic Planning (CAP) Center has opened to assist students with early career
exploration and academic planning.
Southeastern faculty and staff will get a first-hand look at the center and its services at a
grand opening from 2-4 p.m. on September 26. The center, located on North Campus, Building
B, Room 169, and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During peak times prior to early
registration, the center will remain open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays, said Interim Director Dorothy
Burton.
The center's services include career and academic counseling appointments for all
freshman and sophomore students, small group career presentations, web-based information
management of general academic advising issues, and course scheduling and approval for
"undecided" majors. Resources available to students include a career resource library, computer-
based occupational programs, and a video library.
The professional staff available to assist students includes two career counsellors and
counsellor interns. The CAP Center works together with the Junior Division.
