CANFIELD ELECTED PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION
     HAMMOND -- Brian Canfield, head of the Southeastern Louisiana University's 
Department of Human Development, has been elected president of the International Association
of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC).
     IAMFC is the largest affiliate division of the American Counseling Association with
approximately 8,500 members world wide and  regional and state chapters in more than 30 states
and five foreign countries. 
     For the past two years, Canfield has served as board member at-large on the IAMFC
executive board. In his new role as president, which will take effect July 1, he will serve on the
division leaders council of the American Counseling Association. 
     Canfield joined the Southeastern faculty in May 2000. Previously he was a member of the
Educational Leadership and Counseling Department at the University of Louisiana-Monroe and
also taught at Louisiana State University-Shreveport and Texas A&M University. He received
his doctoral degree from Texas A&M and master's and bachelor's degrees from Louisiana Tech
University.
