SLU AND SLIDELL CHAMBER HOST SMALL BUSINESS SEMINAR
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Small Business Development Center
and the Slidell Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar on "Bonding for Small Businesses."
The seminar will be held on Thursday April 24 from 9:00 am -12 pm at the LaQuinta Inn in
Slidell. The cost to attend is $20, $10 for Slidell Chamber members and includes handouts and
refreshments. Seating is limited. Preregistration is highly recommended.
Participants will learn about all aspects of bonding including: what a bond is, who needs
bonding, who issues bonds and what to look for when choosing a bonding agent/underwriter.
The seminar speaker is Kay Doyle-Smith, Owner and Underwriter of Diversified Surety
Underwriters. Doyle-Smith has nearly 15 years of experience in the area of bonding and her agency
deals exclusively with small business bonds.
Representatives from the Small Business Administration and the Louisiana Department of
Economic Development will also be on hand to discuss bond guarantee and assistance programs
available through the federal and state governments and how local small businesses can qualify for
these programs.
