SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS TOP
STUDENTS
     HAMMOND -- Denise Rowinsky, a marketing major from Denham Springs, received
the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Business and Technology's highest academic
honor, the Award for Academic and Leadership Excellence, at the college's annual honors
convocation April 25.
     Rowinsky was one of several students who received department awards and scholarships
at the annual awards ceremony. Assistant Dean Bobbye Davis recognized recipients of the
Presidential Honors Scholarships, University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors Scholarships,
and the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarships, and Dean Michael
Budden recognized the 114 students awarded Charles Wesley Merritt Scholarships, the
university's largest scholarship endowment.
     The college awarded Jorge Ramos, owner of LaCaretta Mexican Restaurant of
Hammond, with Entrepreneur of the Year, I-77 Internet Services, Inc. with Technology
Company of the Year, and Bourgeois Bennett, CPAs, LLC with Education Partner of the Year.
     Ray Naquin of Hammond was named the college's first Outstanding Alumnus of the
College of Business and Technology. Naquin has been an administrator for Heritage Manor
Nursing Home, and is the founder of Hammond Nursing Home and St. Francis Assisted Living
Center in New Orleans. He serves on the Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators
and, in 1989, received the board's highest service award. 
     Additional departmental awards and scholarships were presented to:

Shamika Bell, Sarah Dosher Waters Scholarship; Dean DiGerolamo, Julius J. Prokop Jr.

     COVINGTON - Sonya Diaz, Distinguished Graduate in Management Award; and Braithe
Landry, United Parcel Service Scholarship.
     DENHAM SPRINGS - Denise Rowinsky, Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship and
Distinguished Graduate in Marketing Award; Lisa Tucker, Baton Rouge Chapter of the
American Society of Women Accountants Scholarship; Amber Stewart, Distinguished Graduate
in Accounting Award.
     DESTREHAN - Amy Vicknair, Byard Edwards MBA Scholarship.
     GONZALES - Heather Guidroz, Beta Alpha Psi Award; Janey Breaux, American Society
of Safety Engineers Leadership Award.
     GREENWELL SPRINGS - Will Chapman, Baton Rouge Area Assistantship.
