SLU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS TOP STUDENTS
     HAMMOND -- Christopher Pettitt, a senior management major from Baton Rouge,
received the College of Business Award for Academic and Leadership Excellence, the
Southeastern Louisiana University College of Business's highest academic honor, at the college's
annual honors convocation on May 7.
     Pettitt, who was also named Distinguished Graduate in Management and received the R.
Norval Garrett and J.C. Penney scholarships, earned a 3.852 grade point average. Married with
two children, he has been active in Gamma Beta Phi, Mu Kappa Tau, Omicron Phi Epsilon. He
also is active in Boy Scouts of America and his church's Elders Quorum Presidency.
     Pettitt was one of many students who received department awards and scholarships at the
annual awards ceremony.
     Dean Michael Budden and Assistant Dean Bobbye Davis recognized the recipients of the
Presidential Honors, Board of Trustees and Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS)
scholarships and the 61 students awarded Charles Wesley Merritt Scholarships, Southeastern's
largest scholarship endowment.
     The college also awarded Certificates of International Friendship to international students
studying in the College of Business through accords between Southeastern and foreign
institutions and recognized inductees to the university's honor societies Phi Kappa Phi and the
Thirteen Club and the College of Business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma.
