Kevin Osterberger was named
the Outstanding Alumnus of the College of Business and Technology. Osterberger
received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Southeastern in 1982 and
is a resident of Spokane, Wash. After gaining several years experience
in the construction management business in Baton Rouge, Osterberger became
construction manager for Circle K Food Stores in Phoenix, managing a seven-state
region. He then went to Denver, Colo., for a construction management position
with Conoco, Inc., where he managed a $40 million budget. He later moved
with the company to Spokane, where he joined the marketing department as
an account manager and worked his way into corporate headquarters.
While working for Conoco,
Osterberger began to diversify his business endeavors, creating West Plains
Conoco, a highway travel plaza consisting of a gas station, car wash, laundromat
and Burger King restaurant, which he owns and operates today. Shortly after
West Plains Conoco, he started West Plains Auto, an importer of motor vehicles
from Canada into the U.S. for the purpose of selling the vehicles at wholesale
