ART AUCTION TO BENEFIT SLU SCHOLARSHIPS
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University faculty, former faculty and alumni
artists have donated art work for a special auction that will help fund a new scholarship for
Southeastern art students.
     The Southeastern Scholarship Art Auction is scheduled for 6-9 p.m., Oct. 17, at the
Northshore Unity Gallery, 432 N. Columbia St., in Covington. The event is part of the Covington
Fall for Art gallery openings.
     Clark Hall Gallery Director Don Marshall, who organized the auction, said more than 30
Southeastern visual arts department faculty and alumni have contributed their work. A similar
auction, Marshall said, helped Southeastern reach the $10,000 endowment level for the Helen
Entrikin Art Scholarship, the visual arts department s first endowed scholarship. 
     The $1,000 scholarship, which honors the late Helen Entrikin, a Hammond arts and active
supporter of the arts, will be awarded during the auction. Proceeds for the Oct. 17 event will help
build a $10,000  endowment for a second scholarship, Marshall said.
