SLU COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES HONORS TOP STUDENTS
     HAMMOND -- Charles E. Dellert of Prairieville, a senior majoring in political science
and social studies education, and Edward J. Fuselier Jr. of Albany, a senior mathematics major,
are the recipient of the 2000 Dean's Award, the top honor of Southeastern Louisiana University's
College of Arts and Sciences.
     Dellert and Fuselier were among the students honored at the college's annual awards
ceremony on May 3. Albert Doucette, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said
both students had earned a perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Fuselier, also received the
Outstanding Senior in Mathematics award and the Robert Carl Brown Scholarship in
mathematics.
     The ceremony made a special bow this year to the university's 75th anniversary. In honor
of the year-long celebration, Arts and Sciences alumni were invited to join faculty on the Vonnie
Borden Theatre stage to present the departmental awards and scholarships. 
     Alumni presenters included Jody M. Grippo, Dr. Gerald J. Sparks, Bridget Kovach Mack,
Nathan Levy III, Sheila Stroup, Claire Soupart Thomas, Linda C. Ross, Sherri Fisher, Fara Duhe,
Jennifer Odom, Barbara Pitts Cochran, and Annie Stohl. 
     Departmental award winners and scholarship recipients were:
     Hammond   Niti Duggal, Outstanding Senior in Biology; Erin R. Hauck, Kenneth E.
Dyson Award (Department of Biological Sciences); Thomas Ray Renfro, Outstanding Graduate
in Computer Science; Emily McMillan, Outstanding Freshman in Mathematics; Sherri Nickens,
Outstanding Senior in General Studies.
