STUDENTS AND FACULTY HONORED AT SLU ARTS & SCIENCES CONVOCATION
HAMMOND -- Students and faculty were honored at Southeastern Louisiana University's
Annual Arts & Sciences Honors Convocation on May 1.
Karen Lewis of Livingston and Kellie Folks of Hammond shared the Dean's Award, the top
honor given by the College of Arts and Sciences.
Two professors also received awards. Dr. Richard Louth of the English department received
the Distinguished Professorship in Humanities and Dr. Louise Bostick of the Industrial Technology
department received the Bell South Distinguished Professor Award.
Three students received multiple awards. Ashley Booth of Hammond was one of the
recipients of the Kenneth Dyson Memorial Biology Award and the Outstanding Chemistry Senior
award.
Jason Calmes received two Mathematics awards, the Frank Michelli Scholarship and the
Margo Davis Award.
Richard White Jr. was presented the Walter L. Drott Scholarship and the Francis C. St. Blanc
Memorial Scholarship from the Department of Industrial Technology.
Other students honored at the convocation were:
Kenneth Dyson Memorial Biology Award - Jerry Thomas of Bogalousa and Jeanne Gasquet
of Buras.
Outstanding Biology Senior- Susanna Harju of Hammond and Rebecca Sherman of Amite.
Outstanding Communication Senior - Andrea Whalen of Tampa, Fla.

Thomas Utsey Jr. Memorial Scholarship- Sherri Fisher of Ponchatoula.
Mark Dugopolski Sophomore Award -Erin Grau of New Orleans.
Kenneth Holder Award- Wendy Foster of Holden.
James Wilcox Award for Outstanding Senior in Music- Fara Duhe of Chalmette.
Ralph R. Pottle Honor Scholarship- Meredith Camille Downey of Hammond.
Outstanding Senior in Psychology - Kelly L. Bishop of Metairie.
Outstanding Senior in Social Work- Melissa McLeod of Natalbany.
Outstanding Senior in Criminal Justice- Lindy Lousteau of Destrehan.
Outstanding Senior in Sociology- Amanda Monjure of Metairie.
Outstanding Graduate in Visual Arts - April Hammock of Slidell.
Honors in Cultural Resource Management- Ann Durel of Mandeville.
