CREATING ART AT SOUTHEASTERN’S SUMMER WORKSHOP FOR
KIDS
HAMMOND -- Registration is now
underway for Southeastern Louisiana University’s popular Children’s Art
Workshop.
Young artists, ages 6-13, can
participate in morning or afternoon sessions of the annual summer workshop,
which will be offered from July 7-17, Monday-Thursday. The morning session
is scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. and the afternoon session from 2-3:30 p.m.,
both at Southeastern’s Clark Hall.
Under the supervision of visual
arts professor Ronald Kennedy, students will create artwork in a variety
of media based on the theme “Marine and Wildlife of Southeast Louisiana.”
“Children will create collages,
drawings, paintings, monoprints, and reliefs with Model Magic, as well
as create mixed media artworks,” said Kennedy. “Older children will explore
the medium of photography.”
After seven days of art lessons,
the students will participate in an Art Open House, a display and celebration
of their work.
Enrollment is limited to 75 students
per session. The cost is $45 per child. Children will be enrolled on a
first come, first serve basis.
Application forms are available
at Southeastern’s Division of Continuing Education, located in room 103
of the University Center on University Ave. Payment must accompany
the registration form.
