SLU CELEBRATES ARTS AND SCIENCE WEEK
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Arts and Sciences will
examine "Great Ideas in Civilization: The Greco-Roman Age" during the college's first
celebration of "Arts and Sciences Week," April 28-May 2.
     The week will feature lectures by more than a dozen Arts and Sciences faculty members,
the annual James H. Morrison Lecture in Politics and Government,  musical performances,
Southeastern Theatre's production of the Roman play The Twin Menaechmi, and the opening of
art exhibits showcasing classical mythology and the works of graduating seniors.
     All events are free and open to the public. The schedule includes:
     Monday, April 28
       Noon, Sims Memorial Library   "Greco-Roman Contributions to Modern Policing,"
Thomas O'Conner, Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice.
       2 p.m., Sims Memorial Library   "Greek Philosophy: The Cradle of Modern Thought,"
Barbara Forrest, History and Government.
       3 p.m., Sims Memorial Library   "Theory of Mind and Understanding Self in Human
and Non-Human Primates," Daniel Povinelli, Director, New Iberia Research Center.
       7:30 p.m., Pottle Music Building Auditorium   James H. Morrison Lecture in Politics
and Government: "xxxxx," State Rep. Henry "Tank" Powell.
