|KIDS CAN HAVE FUN WITH ART AT SOUTHEASTERN SUMMER WORKSHOP
HAMMOND -- Registration
is now underway for Southeastern Louisiana University’s popular Children’s
Art Workshop, sponsored by the Department of Visual Arts and the Division
of Continuing Education.
Young artists, ages 5-14,
can participate in morning or afternoon sessions of the annual summer workshop,
which will be offered from July 11-21, Monday-Thursday. The morning session
is scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. and the afternoon session from 2-3:30 p.m.,
both at Southeastern’s Clark Hall.
Under the direction of
Southeastern art education students supervised by visual arts professor
Ron Kennedy, students will create artwork in a variety of media based on
the theme “Land, Peoples and Cultures.”
Kennedy said students will
model with Crayola’s Model Magic, create mixed media collages, paint paintings,
and make prints. Older students will complete at least one photography-based
After seven days of art lessons, students will participate in an “Art
Open House,” a display and celebration of their work.
Enrollment is limited to
75 students per session. The cost is $50. Children will be enrolled on
a first come, first serve basis.
