ART AUCTION TO BENEFIT SLU VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University faculty and alumni artists are
donating their work for a good cause -- scholarships for aspiring artists.
The art will be auctions from 6-9 p.m. April 18 at the SLU Friends of the Visual Arts
Spring Gala Art Auction. Proceeds from the auction, which will be held at SLU's Clark Hall
Gallery, will benefit the Visual Arts Scholarship Fund.
Clark Hall Gallery Director Don Marshall said art enthusiasts will be able to bid on
original paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, limited edition prints and photographs. Guests
can also enjoy coffees and desserts, he said.
"Our goal," said Marshall, "is to raise $5,000 for scholarships and supply and material
mini grants for Southeastern arts students. We would also like to provide a scholarship to the
summer study program that Southeastern participates in in Puebla, Mexico."
Faculty members contributing art works include Roy Blackwood and Gary Keown of
Hammond; Kim Finley-Stansbury of Albany; Lynda Katz of Independence; Barbara Tardo of
Folsom; Gail Hood of Covington; Alexander Stolin of Mandeville and Rancy Boyd-Snee, Tina
