APPLY EARLY TO SLU AND WIN PRIZES!
HAMMOND -- Students who apply for admission to Southeastern Louisiana University by
March 1 may win some great prizes.
As an incentive to apply early, the university is sponsoring a drawing for high-tech academic
tools such as laptop computers, graphing calculators and hand-held personal organizers.
Students who apply by March 1 will automatically be eligible to win. Winners will be drawn
on the first day of the fall 2000 semester, August 21.
The prizes are being funded through contributions from Southeastern's Follett College
Bookstore and ARAMARK, the university's food services contractor.
In fall 2000, Southeastern Louisiana University will implement new quality admission
standards. Under the new standards, beginning freshmen will need to meet one of three
requirements: an ACT composite of at least 20, ranking in the upper 50 percent of their high
school
graduating class or a "C" (at least 2.0) high school grade point average.
Transfer students will have to have earned 12 hours of coursework and have at least a 2.0
grade point average or be in good academic standing according to Southeastern standards and
eligible to re-enter the institution from which they are transferring.
Students or parents who have questions about Southeastern's new admission policy can
contact SLU Enrollment Services (1-800-222-SELU) for a brochure on "Frequently Asked
