CLARK HALL GALLERY HOSTS ACRYLIC EXHIBIT, LECTURES
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Clark Hall Gallery will host the
National Acrylic Painters Association's fifth International Open Exhibition, June 9-July 21. In
conjunction with the exhibit, the gallery also will host two acrylic workshops.
At the exhibit's opening reception, scheduled for 6-9 p.m., Friday, June 9, Alan
Flattmann, a juror for the exhibition, will present a slide lecture. The lecture is scheduled for 7
p.m., in the gallery.
Clark Hall Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays.
Gallery Director Don Marshall said the acrylic workshops will be offered to area artists
by Gerry Willging and Linda Gunn on June 10 and 11. There is a $75 fee for each workshop.
Marshall said Willging will offer a one-day comprehensive introduction to heavy body
acrylics, collage and mixed media experimental painting in "Experimental Design Techniques."
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 10, at Clark Hall.
While the workshop will emphasize canvas as the main support, Marshall said artists who
prefer to work on paper are also welcome. Participants will learn new techniques to enrich the
surface of the painting support, using non-traditional papers such as newsprint as well as
traditional rice papers. Design and composition will be emphasized and explored according to
painting styles and experience.
Gunn, founding director of the National Acrylic Painters Association, will conduct
"Experimental Watercolor and Collage Techniques" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 11, also
in Clark Hall. Participants will learn new and exciting watercolor techniques to strengthen their
work.
