TO AID
TROOPS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana
University students have joined the “Yellow Ribbon Campaign of Louisiana”
to support American troops.
Students are collecting items
such as socks, tee shirts, baby wipes, and personal hygiene products; selling
yellow ribbons and lapel pins, and accepting monetary donations. Donations
are being collected at the Southeastern War Memorial Student Union from
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays through May 8.
Yellow ribbons are being offered
for a $5 donation and lapel pins for $1.
Dara Funderburke of St. Francisville,
one of the student organizers, said that while some of the money collected
will go toward “care package” items, most of it will be used for shipping
expenses. A member of the Sociology Club, she said her organization as
well as groups such as the College Republicans, Student Government Association,
the Lionettes, and the Rugby Club are helping with the project.
The Yellow Ribbon Campaign of
Louisiana is being headed by Madelon Arcenaux of St. Francisville, 225-784-2643,
