SLU’S SHRM HOSTS STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE MARCH 26
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern
Louisiana University chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management
will host the first ever Louisiana SHRM Student Leadership Conference Friday,
March 26 in room 125 of the University Center.
Sponsored by Southeastern's Student
Government Association, the conference will provide a unique opportunity
for Southeastern students to interact with human resource majors from other
universities as well as human resource professionals. Participating schools
are Southeastern, Louisiana State University, University of New Orleans,
Nicholls State University and Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
“Both students as well as professionals
will benefit from the educational programs as well as networking opportunities,”
said Carl Phillips, faculty advisor for the Southeastern chapter
of SHRM. “Session topics have been carefully selected to benefit both students
as well as professionals.”
Topics will include “Developing
and Implementing a Culture and Climate of Leadership, Respect, Teamwork,
and Personal Responsibility”; “2004 Legislative Update”; “Leading by Example...Not
by Words! ‘Non-Verbal Communication Skills for Successful HR Leaders’”;
and “Year One: The Transition From School to Work.”
Registration will begin at 8:30
a.m with sessions running through 2:45 p.m. The conference is free for
SHRM members and $10 for non-SHRM members. Continental breakfast and lunch
will be provided.
