HAMMOND -- Members of Southeastern Louisiana University’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda attended the National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colo., in July where they competed in business related events and participated in numerous leadership activities.
Theresa Jones of Destrehan and Elizabeth Catt of Independence participated in the Business Plan and Job Interview competitive events, respectively. Jones placed ninth in the Business Plan event. The students also participated in the Open Testing event, which is a pilot program for future competitive events at the state and national levels.
They were accompanied by the chapter’s co-advisor Bobbie Gill Schnepf of Southeastern’s general business department.
Sponsored annually by Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the National Leadership Conference encourages Individuals, state teams, and local chapters to compete in 40 different events representing a wide range of activities and the business and leadership development focus of FBLA-PBL. The winners of these highly competitive and prestigious awards are selected from among FBLA-PBL’s membership of 250,000 students and advisers and represent some of the best and brightest of today’s youth.
The almost 7,000 delegates to the National Leadership Conference participated in a structured, four-day meeting for each division that included business and leadership training workshops and seminars, corporate tours, and the election of national officers.
