TEN STUDENTS VIE FOR MISS SOUTHEASTERN CROWN
HAMMOND -- Melissa Clark, Miss
Louisiana 2003, will serve as emcee of the annual “Miss Southeastern” pageant,
scheduled for 7 p.m., March 4, at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Columbia
Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Hammond.
Ten Southeastern students will
compete for the Miss Southeastern crown, currently held by Jennifer Louise
Soileau of Slidell. Soileau, “Southeastern Star” Jessica Clement of Destrehan,
and the Southeastern Lionettes will provide entertainment.
Held at Southeastern since 1949,
the pageant has been a Miss America preliminary since 1962. The pageant
is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board. Admission is free.
Contestants for the 2004 title
are junior mathematics education major Kimberly Dottolo, Ponchatoula; senior
kinesiology major Tara Nicole Fuller, Shreveport; sophomore biological
sciences major Kathryn Kemp, Ethel; sophomore family and consumer sciences
major Kacie Brummel, Baker; freshman nursing major Carrie Mallahan, Kenner;
sophomore English education major Jeuri McCon and senior accounting major
Tara Chan’telle Fooshee, Walker; freshman political science major Stacey
Barnes, senior accounting major Lamona Elmore, and senior mass communication
major Natalie Crump, all from Baton Rouge.
The contestants will compete
in four areas, including personal interview, swimsuit, talent and evening
wear.
Miss Southeastern 2004 will advance
to the Miss Louisiana Pageant later this year.
