SEVEN STUDENTS VIE FOR MISS SOUTHEASTERN CROWN
      HAMMOND -- Casey Crowder, Miss Louisiana 2002, will serve as emcee of the annual “Miss Southeastern” pageant, scheduled for 7 p.m., March 13, at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Columbia Theater for the Performing Arts in downtown Hammond.
      Seven Southeastern students will compete for the Miss Southeastern crown, currently held by Lindsey Hunter Dykes of Baton Rouge. Dykes, Miss Teen Louisiana 2002 Blair Abene of Tickfaw and the Southeastern Lionettes will provide entertainment.
      Held at Southeastern since 1949, the pageant has been a Miss America preliminary since 1962.  The pageant is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board. Admission is free.
      Contestants for the 2003 title are nursing majors Angela Marie Pizani of Franklinton, Michelle Theresa Berthelot of Violet, and Sylvida Davis of Jackson; psychology major Rachelle Lynn Simmons of Walker; education major Jennifer Louise Soileau and kinesiology major Jessy Shaw, both of Slidell; and business major Amber Rose Hayden of Loranger.
      The contestants will compete in four areas, including personal interview, swimsuit, talent and evening wear. 
      Miss Southeastern 2003 will advance to the Miss Louisiana Pageant in Monroe in June.
