LIONS JOIN IN “READ ACROSS AMERICA” – As
Southeastern Louisiana University’s mascot Roomie and Lions nose guard
Steven Smith look on, quarterback Martin Hankins reads a Dr. Seuss story
to young students at Southeastern Head Start. Roomie, Southeastern football
players and Southeastern cheerleaders visited Head Start on March 2 as
part of the university’s participation in the National Education Association’s
Read Across America Day. Southeastern will celebrate America Reads Week
with a party honoring Seuss’s 101th birthday at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March
4. All area children and their parents are invited to the afternoon of
family fun at the Hammond branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Public Library.
