      HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Lionettes will host their
annual tryouts at 5 p.m. Friday, March 26, and 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the Pennington Student Activity Center.
      The university’s dance team, which ranked sixth in the National Universal Dance Association (UDA) Division I College Championship, entertains at all Southeastern football and basketball games as well as other university events. The team also attends summer and national UDA competitions.  
      Lionettes qualify for half-tuition scholarships for fall and spring semesters. Tryouts are open to all current Southeastern students and high school graduating seniors. All applicants must have a 2.5 grade point average, said advisor Christen Anzalone. 
      For the first round of tryouts on March 26, dancers must prepare a one-minute routine demonstrating their technical ability. Dancers should have advanced jazz, ballet and hip hop abilities; and be in good physical condition. The final round will take place on March 27.
      Dancers interested in trying out for the Lionettes are asked to e-mail for an application packet and to reserve an audition time.
