SOUTHEASTERN YEARBOOK EARNS TOP EVALUATION
HAMMOND -- The 2001 “Le Souvenir,” Southeastern Louisiana University’s yearbook, has received a first-place evaluation from the American Scholastic Press Association.
Garnering 850 out of a possible 1,000 points, the yearbook was rated excellent in content presentation, photography and creativity. It also earned a perfect score in general page design.
Yearbook editors for the 2001 “Le Souvenir” were Chad Hebert of Marrero and Brenda Bergeron of Hammond.
The ASPA judges approximately 2,000 yearbooks annually. Matt Taver, director of Student Publications, said Southeastern was the only Louisiana university to be recognized this year for yearbook excellence.
Other first-place college winners included University of California-Irvine, Purdue University, University of Arkansas, Lehigh University, Auburn University and Dallas Baptist University.
Last fall, “Le Souvenir” also earned kudos at the National College Media Advisers Convention, placing fifth in the nation in the “Organizations Spread Design” category. The winning page, which depicted sorority and fraternity “Rush Week” activities, was designed by Sanela Osmanovic of Sarjevo, Bosnia and Herzegovia, and edited by Bergeron and Hebert. It was included in “Best of College Design,” a booklet featuring the prize-winning entries.
The 2000 “Le Souvenir” earned second place honors for cover design.
“These honors are a testament of our students hard work, creativity, and dedication to the field  of desktop publishing,” Tarver said.
