SOUTHEASTERN’S JASON LEADER HONORED FOR
STUDENT PROGRAMMING
HAMMOND – Jason Leader,
coordinator of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Campus Activities Board,
has received national recognition from the Association for the Promotion
of Campus Activities.
Leader, a Covington
resident and Southeastern graduate, received APCA’s Ernest C. Jones Award
for Excellence in Programming at association’s recent national conference
in Atlanta.
“This is one of the
most prestigious awards given by APCA and Jason well deserves the national
recognition,” said Southeastern Vice President for Student Affairs Brad
O’Hara. “Under his guidance, the Campus Activities Board initiated a number
of successful programs -- from the popular Southeastern Star competition
to the Southeastern Music Fest, scheduled for April 13.”
Presenting the award,
Alesha Vardeman, APCA regional coordinator for Texas and Louisiana, described
Leader as “a vital team player for the South Central Region of APCA.
Leader, said Southeastern CAB Vice-President Daniel Roberts, is “enthusiastic
and animated. He energizes his students and draws out their creativity.”
Leader is in his
second year as CAB coordinator. “Southeastern Star,” a campus talent competition
modeled on the popular television reality show “American Idol,” was named
APCA’s Program of the Year in 2004. |
