News release Public Information Office   SLU 10880   Hammond, LA 70402   phone: 985-549-2341   fax: 985-549-2061 publicinfo@selu.edu     www.selu.edu/news Contact: Angey Saucier Date: 5/1/03   SOUTHEASTERN GREEKS RAISE MONEY FOR MDA       HAMMOND – Members of two of Southeastern Louisiana University's Greek fraternities raised over $500 March 11-14 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Shamrock Program, which supports the fight against neuromuscular diseases.        Participating in a 20-year MDA tradition, the Kappa Alpha Order and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity sold $1 green and $5 gold shamrocks to students, faculty and staff for St. Patrick's Day.        The Kappa Alpha Order raised $262 and earned 65 hours of community service, and Sigma Tau Gamma raised $322 and earned 80.5 hours of community service.        Donations from the event will advance research and maintain the association's hospital-affiliated clinics at the NeuroMedical Center and the Baton Rouge Clinic. Funds will also be used to finance MDA facilitated support groups and MDA summer camp. Return to News Releases
