SOUTHEASTERN GOSPEL MUSIC ENSEMBLE CONCERT – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Gospel Music Ensemble will present a free concert on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at Hammond’s Greenfield Baptist Church. Ensemble Members are, from left, front:

SOUTHEASTERN GOSPEL MUSIC ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM DEC. 8

       HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Gospel Music Ensemble will present a free concert of traditional and contemporary gospel pieces and holiday season favorites on Thursday, Dec. 8. 
       Conducted by Kenya Lawrence Jackson, the 30-voice Department of Music and Dramatic Arts ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. at Greenfield Baptist Church, 110 J. W. Davis Dr. in Hammond.
       Jackson said selections will include Kurt Carr’s “God Blocked It”; “Seek Ye First,” a hymn arranged by the Gospel Music Ensemble’s composer-in-residence and accompanist, Jan Youngblood, and “a foot-stomping Quincy Jones arrangement of Handel’s ‘Hallelejah Chorus.’” 
       Soloists will include Brittany Bickham and Jimysha Andrews, LaPlace; Pamela Williams, Bogalusa; Marshaun Robertson, Clinton; Joe Johnson and Leslie Palmer, Hammond; Brittney Harris and Kenza Montgomery, Baton Rouge; Travis Bush, Reserve; Melissa McKey, Denham Springs; and Jaquita Williams, Paincourtville.
       The ensemble also includes
