SOUTHEASTERN GOSPEL ENSEMBLE DEBUTS NOV. 3 AT POTTLE AUDITORIUM
     HAMMOND – A new Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Music and Dramatic Arts vocal ensemble specializing in spiritual and Gospel music will make its debut at the Pottle Music Building Auditorium on Nov. 3.
     Directed by music instructor and Southeastern alumnus Kenya Lawrence, the 18-member Gospel Music Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free.
     Lawrence said the performance will also include liturgical dance and will feature solos by sopranos Pamela Williams of Bogalusa and Earlean Johnson of Edgard; altos Leslie Palmer of Hammond and Brittany Cooper of Slidell; tenors Jeffrey Hart of Boutte and Marshaun Robertson of Clinton; and baritone Zarrick Holmes of New Orleans.
     Members of the ensemble, who are enrolled in the music department’s Gospel Music Workshop class, will be accompanied by Jan Youngblood. Youngblood, a Hammond resident who received a master’s degree in music from Southeastern in 1980, is a published arranger and composer. The Gospel Music Ensemble’s program will include some of his compositions.

     Sopranos: Glen Marie Young, Covington; Ashley Nicole Deas, Slidell; Brittany Bickham, LaPlace.
     Altos: Leticia R. Walker, Baton Rouge; Arianne Antoine, New Orleans.
     Tenors: Reginald Watson, Ethel; Wendell Jackson, Baton Rouge; Travis Bush, Bogalusa; Floyd Mayfield Jr., Geismar.
     Baritones: Darren Bridgewater and Donta Mills, Baton Rouge.
