SOUTHEASTERN’S “GOLDEN SILENCE” TO HONOR DECEASED MARCH 30
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana
University Alumni Association will host the Golden Silence memorial service
at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 30 in the Student Union Park.
Golden Silence is designed to
honor deceased Southeastern alumni, students, faculty and staff.
"People are the vital link for
our university, whether they are students, alumni, faculty, staff, even
friends and supporters," said alumni director Kathy Pittman. "Even when
a person is gone, their spirit lives on; so often, it lives on here at
Southeastern."
President Randy Moffett will
light a memorial candle and Southeastern Provost John Crain, and
vice presidents Joseph Miller, Stephen Smith and Brad O’Hara will read
the approximately 160 names on the “memorial roll call.” The brief program
also will feature a performance of the university's alma mater by Southeastern
music professor Joy Ratliff, and a rendition of “Taps” by music students.
The public is invited to attend.
