HAMMOND  --  Eric Summers has been named director of Multi-Cultural and International Affairs at Southeastern Louisiana University.
As interim director for the past year, Summers has pioneered the implementation of host programs for international students, was instrumental in creating the Student Programming and Resource Committee (SPARC), and helped charter the first African American Alumni Chapter at Southeastern last spring.
Summers began his career at Southeastern in January 2000 as a residential life coordinator, where he co-founded the Residential Learning Center for first year students, taught the first freshmen seminar class offered in residence halls, and won a conference scholarship to the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) conference.
Summers earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master's degree in education in higher education administration from the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, he worked in Orientation, Multicultural Affairs, where he coordinated a mentor program for freshmen.
