SOUTHEASTERN SPONSORS BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR DR. SEUSS MARCH 5
HAMMOND -- Area children are
invited to a “Seussentennial” birthday party for Dr. Seuss Friday, March
5 at the Hammond branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Library.
The party to celebrate the 100th
birthday of beloved children’s author Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel is sponsored
by Southeastern’s Office of Financial Aid, which coordinates the university’s
participation in the America Reads program.
The birthday party is geared
toward kindergarten through second grade students and will include readings
from Seuss’s books beginning at 4 p.m. at the library, located at 314 East
Thomas Street.
Celebrity guests will include
Dr. Seuss’s “Cat in the Hat,” Southeastern’s Lion mascot Roomie, and Southeastern
football players. Refreshments will be served, including “pink ink” (pink
lemonade), the favored drink of “the Yink” in Seuss’s "One Fish Two Fish
Red Fish Blue Fish.”
Through Southeastern's America
Reads project, student tutors work with children in grades pre-kindergarten
through third to help bolster their reading ability. The program was founded
at Southeastern in 1997.

the Seussentennial birthday party, contact Financial Aid at 985-549-5405. |
