FREE CPR CLASS OFFERED DURING WORLDWIDE CPR DAY
HAMMOND On Saturday, April 28, members of the community can learn how to save
lives through CPR during Worldwide CPR Day at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Southeastern's Department of Nursing, in conjunction with the Tangipahoa Chapter of
the American Heart Association, will host "Friends and Family," a free one-man CPR and adult
choking victim management class.
"In Tangipahoa alone, 39 percent of deaths occur due to cardiovascular problems," said
Roberta Connelley, volunteer for Worldwide CPR Day. "At the time of our course in Hammond,
people all over the country will simultaneously be attending similar courses in observance of
Worldwide CPR Day."
"Friends and Family" will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Recreation Center
("Old Man's Gym"). Registration is required. To sign up or for more information, call 985-543-
4123.
